The year of the Cicadas
Posted by admin · 25 Comments
This is the year of the 17 year cycle Cicada bugs. The last time they were around in my area was 1991, and here it is 17 years later in 2008. I decided that the pine barrens were the best place to find them since I haven’t seen them anywhere else. Listen to that wonderful singing sound they make for their mating call. With thousands of them at one time singing, it sounds like one large continuous chorus. Some call it freaky, I think it’s rather beautiful and fascinating. Please check out my featured video on my main channel page to see someone’s video they got of a Cicada up close during its mating call, something I was unable to do myself. Here is the link to the video I found of a close up of a Cicada doing its mating call: www.youtube.com Check out this link to the Wikipedia article where you can get more facts and info on the Cicadas. en.wikipedia.org
