BPK – How to Play Famous Tori Amos Riffs Part I (Piano/Keyboard)

Silent All These Years, Precious Things, Pretty Good Year, A Sorta Fairytale, Cooling, iieee, Winter. (I wasn’t planning on adding Winter at the end but it just sort of happened, so it’s a bonus: a bit rough, but there.) The featured video for this month is Juarez from To Venus and Back melded with You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette: www.youtube.com I love Juarez because of what Tori does with it when she plays it live. The album version is a bit cold and passionless but she really brings it to life both with band (as either herself or Clyde) and solo. Her mesmerizing key change at the end of her solo piano Juarez was the main inspiration for me to play it that way. Check it out if you love Juarez as much as I do! Beware though, the video received some random hate and a 1-star rating. It’s not for the feint of heart or anyone who has trouble understanding Tori or Juarez itself. Here are some links to covers of the full songs in the tutorial here. A few of them are a bit older and not as polished but I think they’ll help from an information standpoint. UPDATE: I freshened up most of the really old ones so they are more fun. :-D Silent All These Years: www.youtube.com Precious Things: www.youtube.com Pretty Good Year: www.youtube.com (I play the vocals and piano part simultaneously and have some fun with it.) Pretty Good Year (Instrumental): www.youtube.com (This is performed by a friend named Justin who is a new pianist and he plays the instrumental version as written by

BPK – How to Play Siren (Tori Amos) Piano/Keyboard

Hello. This is a tutorial for Siren by Tori Amos from the Great Expectations soundtrack. It can be a tough song to learn and to teach but everyone here has been so great with nice comments and ratings this year, so I made a video to teach Siren which was the most requested tutorial. I hope it is helpful! I have a video where I play Siren which may help hear how the song comes together: www.youtube.com July was a very productive month for me playing Tori cause I have a video now for almost every song on her albums. The last few will be coming this month (hopefully!). The featured video from July is an original called Her Clinquant Mirror: www.youtube.com It’s inspired by the mystical style of Stevie Nicks and tells a peculiar tale of a woman’s infatuation with a mirror she found, and by extension her own reflection. It somehow twists her, but she is not destroyed. I had fun thinking it through so I hope you enjoy it as well. Thanks to everyone for all the kindness here. Much love, -BPK ————————————————— A full list of songs here is now available at: blog.myspace.com
