Thank you! I really appreciate this. If it’s helpful at all, I can tell you that the tutorial I have which is best for people at the very entry level is the China tutorial. It’s a song that a lot of new pianists have told me was a nice transition into the instrument to get comfortable playing her. PS – I don’t know if your screen name comes from it but I read Memoirs of a Geisha when I was 19 and I loved it!

ah,yeah, you might be right, well, i´ll just have to try it out and see what i can play comfortably with my short fingers ;P yes, exactly, that´s where the name is from *laughs* i loved hatsumomo! (though i have to say, i saw the movie first and it totally ruined the book for me u.u)

I was searching for the song and i thought this was an interesting video title so i watched it haha!
I saw ur other video playing it, really good:)
First of all you like Tori Amos which is a major ++ !!:)
Second u’re amazingly kind to create this video for people not many musicians share their talents with others:) did u get the song by ear?(sorry my english isnt that geat:P) and how old r u ?

Thank you. I did learn Siren by ear and your comment is super nice. I am 28 but sometimes am mistaken for younger. When I was in school and working too many hours, I did not have time to play piano but at the beginning of 2008, I got back into it.

I love the book! I read it in 1999 when it was popularized by, of all things, Madonna’s video for Nothing Really Matters.

no really?? madonna popularized it? i know the video… woah, thats a new piece of information… the book came out (or at least became popular) years later in germany, not long before the movie came out. you really shocked me here!

Absolutely. Madonna discussed how she was inspired to explore Japanese geisha culture following her exposure to the novel Memoirs of a Geisha. In a funny little anecdote, when the video premiered, Madonna was talking about how the song & video represented her arch-journey through life and the things she’s learned. My friend said, “Sorry but I don’t get it–since when is Asian culture the foundation of Madonna’s life story?” I giggled.

anyone would have giggled by then XD your friend was completely right, of course but good ol´ madonna is a woman of many talents, and one of those is finding the meaning of her life in things she has absolutely no connection to ;P but if she´s such a genius that she easily understands the kabbalah who are we little nobodies to disagree -lol-
