Note – UMG (Universal Music Group ) has allowed me to use the soundtrack to which they own the copyright to (Soft Cell -Tainted Love) and also the rights to the movie ‘Way Out West* / Stan Laurel Productions. INFO – From the motion picture WAY OUT WEST. The film’s score was composed by Marvin Hatley and nominated for an Academy Award for Original Music Score. The film includes two famous songs, firstly “Trail Of The Lonesome Pine” sung by Laurel and Hardy except for a few lines by Chill Wills and Rosina Lawrence, lip-synched by Laurel. And secondly “At The Ball, That’s All” sung by The Avalon Boys and accompanied by Laurel and Hardy performing an extended dance routine, one which they rehearsed endlessly. “Trail Of The Lonesome Pine” was released as a single in Britain in 1975 backed by “Honolulu Baby” from Sons Of The Desert reaching number 2 in the British charts. One of Laurel and Hardy’s most fondly remembered productions, WAY OUT WEST features career-best material, including a chase around the villain’s apartment (”Ah-hah!” “Oh-hoh!” “Ee-hee!”), three wonderful musical interludes, and one of cinema’s most priceless set-pieces: Stan and Ollie’s soft-shoe shuffle outside a saloon as the Avalon Boys sing ‘At the Ball’!
